Your First Visit

Welcome to Olivet! We believe that there are no strangers in God's house.

Coming to church for the first time can feel intimidating, particularly for those of us who are not completely extroverted. What will it be like? Will I connect with people, or will the experience feel shallow? Will I feel at home? And most importantly, will I sense this is a place where I can find God?

At Olivet Presbyterian Church, we want you to know that every one of us has also had a "first Sunday" experience, and we really want yours to be as warm, friendly, and inviting as possible. We will do our best to make you feel welcome! Go ahead, grab someone’s arm and say, "I’m new here". We look forward to meeting you. If you want to know a bit of what we are like, check out our website.

We are here because of Jesus Christ. God's grace, mercy, and transformation of people's lives is the focus of all we do. We are continually making our best effort to reach out, make you feel welcome, and to help you feel that God is present in this place. Come and join us on the path of faith together; the more of us on this journey, the better it will be!

Unlike most churches, our traditional service is at 10:00, followed by Sunday School at 11:00. This tradition started many years ago when we shared our preacher with another church. He would preach a sermon at Olivet at 10:00, and then race across town for another sermon at 11:00. When we finally got our own full-time preacher, we just kept our service times the same as they were.

We recommend arriving about 10-15 minutes before the service to allow time for seating.

Directions

Olivet is easy to find. Nestled between the modern urbanization on Richmond Ave is our old-fashioned, country church! If you are on Interstate 81, take Exit 222 and head west toward Staunton. Olivet is just after Chili's on the right,
less than a mile from the Interstate!

Child Care

We have many programs for children of all ages. Again, grab an arm of someone, and ask “Where do the kids go?” We have a nursery
available downstairs as well, and it is staffed starting at 9:30am.
